Caliber 2141/2806 consists of a 2140 base (Jaeger-LeCoultre 961 movement ebauche), slightly adapted to accommodate the 2806 perpetual calendar dial (Dubois-Dépraz movement ebauche). Selfwinding mechanisms smaller than 20 mm are rare in watchmaking, so those that also house a classic complication such as the perpetual calendar are truly exceptional.
Produced in just over 1’000 examples dating from 1996 to 2010, this marvel of miniaturization is featured in fewer than 10 models, most prevalent in the ‘Edward Piguet’, rectangular in shape from 1998, followed by 25799 from 1996, 25853 in 1998 and 25911 in 2001.
The registers only contain records of 105 33 mm Royal Oak perpetual calendars, all equipped with Calibre 2141/2806. Appearing in 1996, the 25800 model largely dominates with 98 examples, followed by the 25931 in 2000 with 5 examples. The Haute Joailleire models 25932 and 12521 are all unique pieces. As for the 25857, it appears to have never been produced.
Furthermore, the 2806 dial was paired with the 2866 calibre to equip the John Schaeffer Perpetual Calendar Minute Repeater model 25835 from 1996.
Purchases of 2141/2806 movements from 1996 to 2004 total 1’017 (211 in 1996, 121 in 1997; 11 in 1998, 100 in 1999, 10 in 2001, 200 in 2002, 175 in 2003, 100 in 2004.)
