Derived from Model 4100, Model 4287 is one of the very first Royal Oak watches with a bezel gemset on the top and not around the rim (bevelled part, as on Models 4275 and 4153). Like Model 4275, it is equipped with a non-guilloché dial and tritium-free hands.
Only seven of them are documented in the Case Registers and in the Production Registers (Registres d'Etablissage) and were sold between 1982 and 1986. The four BA (yellow gold) examples were sold between 1982 and 1984. The three examples in BC (white gold) were sold in 1983, 1985 and 1986.
The production of this model was so limited that no technical data sheet was created, nor are there any descriptions or plans. A single picture exists in the 1981–82 catalogue.
