5709, ROYAL OAK POCKET WATCH GEMSET

Gemset Royal Oak pocket watch 5709

44 mm | Hours, minutes | Calibre 5020 | Hexagonal link chain | Launch date: 1981

Derived from Model 5691, Model 5709 (renamed 35709 in 1984–85) appeared in the Audemars Piguet catalogue in 1981, the year of its launch. It is the first and only Royal Oak jewellery pocket watch whose bezel is set on the edge rather than on the top. The hour-markers are replaced by long baguette-cut diamonds.

To date, only three yellow gold models have been found in the production archives, two of which were sold in the Middle East in 1984 and the last in the United States in 1987.
