After two unsuccessful attempts in 1940 and 1972, the Japanese city of Nagano hosted the 1998 Olympic Winter Games. A record 2,176 athletes representing 72 countries took part in 68 official events, some of which made their debut that year, notably snowboarding and curling.

Audemars Piguet marked this event by creating a 98-piece Limited Edition, a nod to the year 1998. The Royal Oak Offshore was an entirely natural choice, as this collection embodies sport and performance.

Each case bears the signature of multiple ski champion Alberto Tomba, an Audemars Piguet ambassador since 1997 and a great fan of the Offshore collection.

The first 37 models left Le Brassus in December 1997, soon followed by the next ones in January 1998, so that all of them would be in Japan for the February Games.

Total sales of 96 units, of which 37 in 1997 and 59 in 1998.

Derived from Model 25807.
